MP 28.5 works really well on Sullivans island. Go down there at low-mid tide and there's a brazil-style lagoon that is really fun. Watch out on dead low spring tides though as it can be a bit shallow, especially if you ride a surfboard / foil board.

Also check out the beach park on the south end of Folly Beach. Park at the entrance and walk in or pay the day charge and park right in front of the spot. You can do a downwinder down to folly pier too although past the pier the wind starts to get a bit dodgy!

South Folly is worth checking out too, especially if you live in James / Johns Island. If you're there at low tide, there are some great little flat water spots in the mouth of the Stono River plus if there's a swell running there can be some really fun waves.
